Mipa vs DeBeer: Which Paint System Suits Your Panel Shop?

Mipa vs DeBeer: Which Paint System Suits Your Panel Shop?

At Melton Paint we mix two professional refinish systems: Mipa and DeBeer Refinish. Both are full systems, with primers, basecoats, clears and the colour formulas to match factory paint codes. So the question for most panel shops is not which one is "better", but which one suits the way your shop works.

About Mipa

Mipa is a German, family-owned paint maker. As well as automotive refinish, it makes industrial and commercial coatings and a large aerosol range, which suits shops that also paint trucks, trailers, machinery or fabricated steel.

About DeBeer Refinish

DeBeer Refinish comes from the Netherlands and is focused on vehicle refinishing. Its range covers solvent and waterborne basecoats, high solid clears and primers built for a busy collision repair workflow.

Things to weigh up

  • The work you do most. Mostly cars and light commercial, or a mix of cars, trucks and industrial jobs?
  • Waterborne or solvent. Think about your booth, your drying setup and where regulations are heading.
  • Colour matching. How quickly your painter can find and adjust a formula matters more than any brochure.
  • Support. Training, colour help and a supplier who can deliver the same day.
  • Cost per job. Compare coverage and the number of coats needed, not just the price per litre.

Talk to us before you switch

Our two reps visit panel shops across Melton, the western suburbs and regional Victoria to talk through a Mipa or DeBeer system and the consumables that go with it. Call (03) 9396 8096 or see trade accounts. Capricorn members can buy on their Capricorn account.
