What does red and grey Scotch-Brite mean?

Red is coarser for general scuffing before primer and base coat. Grey is finer, for scuffing before blending and clear coat.

Can I use Scotch-Brite instead of sandpaper?

Yes, for scuffing edges, door jambs, recesses and plastics before painting. Use sandpaper for flatting and filler work.
