Choosing a body filler
- Premium lightweight filler: 3M Platinum Plus, Evercoat Rage Gold and Rage Ultra, and U-POL Fantastic. Easy to spread and sand, with little shrinkage.
- Medium depth repairs: U-POL Dolphin body filler.
- Finishing and pinholes: U-POL Dolphin Glaze, Evercoat 440 Express and GPI Cam glazing putty.
- Plastic parts: Plast X flexible body filler for bumpers and plastics.
Common questions
What's the difference between body filler and glazing putty?
Body filler builds up dents and repairs. Glazing putty is a fine finishing coat that fills pinholes and sanding scratches before primer.
How much hardener do I mix with body filler?
As a guide, about 2% hardener (a strip roughly the width of the filler across the mix). Always follow the instructions on the tin, as too much hardener causes bleed-through.
Can I apply body filler over paint?
For the best adhesion, sand back to bare metal with 80 grit and apply filler to clean metal.
